Top Ten Teen Books of 2015

Now that I'm working full-time as a young adult librarian I haven't been posting nearly as much, but I wanted to at least do my end of the year lists! 1) Ms. Marvel: Generation Why by G. Willow Wilson I love this comic series overall, but this one so clearly nails a lot of the things I've heard from teens recently. Their annoyance at older generations misjudging and underestimating them, their ability to come together despite differences, and their genuine desire to make their worlds a better place. Kamala Khan is just a fabulous protagonist overall, relatably trying to juggle her friends, family, faith, education, and, oh yeah, newfound superpowers. Plus, the cameos. The cameos. So many familiar faces from the Marvel universe have appeared, which is especially fun because Kamala is such an unabashed fangirl. I really can't praise this series highly enough- just go check it out for yourself. 2) Lumberjanes by Noelle Stevenson Sensing a theme? 2015 was a huge year for ...

The Secret

Heart of the Wolf (Eye of the Storm #3) by Dianna Hardy

Summary from Goodreads

The third book in the erotic, dark paranormal fantasy series, Eye Of The Storm.

Lydia becomes ever closer to her three mates. However, with unrest all around, she is struggling to keep her wolves together for her first full moon, just twenty-four hours away.

A trip back home for Ryan could bring much needed support for them all, but at what cost?

As The Trident close in on Ryan's pack, the pack itself becomes divided over Lydia's presence and Lawrence is encouraged to return as the Alpha. But they don't know his secret, and he's doubtful of his ability to protect them. Can he fulfil his rightful role, or will his efforts prove fatal?

Meanwhile, among the arid plains of Egypt, in a long-forgotten city, one man is pitting himself against the beast inside him in order to find salvation, only to realise, so much more is at stake than his soul.

(Notes: Book three of a series - it is highly recommended that the books are read in order. This is an adult, paranormal fantasy containing scenes of explicit sexual content and some violence, entwined with romantic elements. Written in British English.)

My Review

I LOVED this....I mean I loved the last one and didn't think it was possible to top, but Dianna has managed to take it to a whole other level yet again - she never ceases to amaze me with her kick ass writing ability!

Hardy has a very up front, no shit, take it or leave it and very unapologetic style of writing - which I love! She takes her characters to the brink because that's where they need to go....and not because she thinks that's the direction that would best please the reader. Raw, sexy and totally believable - a Dianna Hardy sex scene leaves nothing to the imagination and really I wouldn't have it any other way!

The storyline sees Lydia get even closer to her mates, but at a time of great tension in their pack. The full moon is looming and with Lydia's first change imminent, her senses are in...shall we say...over drive!

There is a lot working this storyline from the outside....and with lots of very dangerous characters in play anything could happen (and most probably will). The pack have a traitor in their midst, which could end up being deadly in the long run! The Trident still pose a big threat and Amil has proved himself to be a tricky and very interesting little bugger!

As usual, Lawrence got to me - again! *sigh* that darn wolf is beautifully broken in all the wrong ways but is devilishly moreish and my favourite out of the 3 mates. He made so many discoveries and managed to jump over some pretty big hurdles. Okay, he managed to make me cry....at least twice!

Heart of the Wolf is a glorious instalment in a truly epic series! It is filled with emotion, packed with raging action and also some very hot scenes. The characters are developing so beautifully and the big shocking revelations have me craving the next sizzling instalment. Bring it on!

5 / 5 Stars!

*Special thanks to Dianna for providing the review copy*
